Diabetes Unfortunately, obesity is about far more than just being overweight, it can lead to an increased risk of serious diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some types of cancer and is now recognised as a disease itself, by organisations including the World Health Organisation and the US Federal Department of Health.
